Promoted to CEO in 2023 and charged with driving our next phase of growth, having successfully led our Commercial, Operations, and International teams as COO, John brings over 20 years of experience from innovative tech and online businesses including Dell, Apple, Skype and Expedia. Prior to carwow, John was CMO of online luxury fashion retail platform Farfetch, which he saw through its public listing on the NYSE.
Working alongside James Hind, David built the original carwow platform single-handedly. Co-Founder David now leads our ever-expanding team of engineers. David ensures that we maintain high levels of platform performance whilst delivering complex expansions, integrations and technology support across all of our markets.
Leading carwow's highly respected and influential editorial team, Mat is best known as the face of the carwow YouTube channel, which he's grown into the largest car channel on the platform with 5.8 million subscribers and over 63 million global video views per month. An automotive entrepreneur and founder of carwow Germany, Philipp is a strategist and leader with over 20 years of international experience in building teams and scaling businesses. Having grown up on the forecourt of his parent's dealership, Philipp has a passion for the automotive industry and at 17 years old, launched his first online car startup. He has since gone on to work for the World Economic Forum and TrueCar.
Alice leads our global Business Operations function, bringing together People & Talent, Strategy, Legal & Compliance, and Analytics to drive carwow through its next stage of growth. With a background in law, Alice brings a wealth of experience from fast-growing consumer-tech businesses like NIKE and Farfetch, which she saw through IPO on the NYSE.
Responsible for managing our financial functions and guiding the group strategy, Nick plays a central role in carwow's strategic acquisitions. With rich experience having worked at major brands, including Channel 4 and Trainline.com, Nick's team assists every part of the business, from new functions such as the recent Sell your car acquisition product and tech support, through to our thriving media and YouTube divisions.
Ben heads up our global marketing team. He’s building a strategy to drive us into pole position as the go-to destination for changing cars in the UK, Germany and Spain. Ben brings a wealth of marketing know-how thanks to executive leadership roles at Just Eat, Purplebricks, Dunelm and notonthehighstreet. Outside of work, he’s a keen runner and a long-suffering Southampton fan. He’s also chair of the charity, The Lily Foundation raising awareness of mitochondrial disease and a Director of Women In Football.
Sally’s at the helm of our Sell My Car's mission to make our platform the best it can be for both partners looking to source used car stock, and customers wanting a convenient way to sell their old car. Sally has over 20 years of digital experience building businesses through product and innovation. She has previously held roles at GoCompare, Photobox and The Times.
Joana heads up our Operations team, connecting all the dots to ensure carwow scales and works as smoothly as possible. Before carwow, Joana was Operations Director at Portuguese start-up, Barkyn, and worked at Farfetch for 8 years, holding a series of senior roles inside operations and platform product, as it grew from start-up to IPO.
Having founded carwow with the mission of helping people choose and buy the best car for them, James has built carwow into the most exciting marketplace and media brand in the automotive sector. Prior to founding carwow, he worked as a ski guide.
Giles co-founded Zopa in 2004, was CEO from 2007 to 2015, Chairman from 2015 until 2019 and remains an active board member. Zopa was the world's first P2P lending business and is shaping the future of consumer finance by providing better value and service. Giles is also Chairman of MarketFinance. He is an independent non-executive director and member of the risk, remuneration and transformation committees of Bank of Ireland Group plc in Dublin. Giles received a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from Christ Church at Oxford University and his MBA from INSEAD. He was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to financial services and was named FinTech leader of the year in the 2016 FinTech innovation awards.
Andrew is the former COO of the online luxury marketplace Farfetch, where he was responsible for running marketing, operations, international and VIP teams. Andrew spent 10 years at Farfetch, growing the business from its early growth stage and seeing it through its public listing on the NYSE in 2018. An online specialist with over 20 years of experience in e-commerce businesses, Andrew started his career with Gemini Consulting before joining Peoplesound.com, a digital music start-up, as Business Development Director. Andrew then worked in the category development team of eBay Australia before spending several years as Managing Director of Cocosa.com. Andrew holds a BA from the University of Oxford and an MBA from INSEAD.
