Car changing is a big deal
Kia’s smallest car has been given a major facelift for 2023 with new styling and updated technology. Read on for all you need to know about the new Picanto.
- New Kia Picanto revealed
- Heavily revised styling
- Tweaked interior design
- More equipment as standard
- New 1.2-litre petrol engine
- On sale later this year
This is the new Kia Picanto, and this small car has been given a big makeover. The alternative to the Hyundai i10 and Toyota Aygo X has revised styling, as well as new interior technology.
New Kia Picanto design
This may be just a facelift but the new Kia Picanto has a totally new look compared to the outgoing car.
The new headlights look similar to the upright units found on the flagship EV9, and they blend neatly into a strip across the bonnet. This GT-line version also has a sporty-looking lower bumper with some larger air intakes.
The Picanto has retained its boxy shape. As standard you get 14-inch alloy wheels, although you can get 15 and 16-inch alloys as you work up the range.
Changes at the rear include new, slimmer tail lights which blend into a full-width light bar, a posh feature on a small car such as this. You also get a redesigned lower bumper, as well as Kia’s new logo.
New Kia Picanto interior and infotainment
The interior design of the new Kia Picanto is pretty much the same as the outgoing car’s, however you do get some more technology as standard.
All cars now get an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, something which was previously reserved for mid-spec cars and up. You also have a new digital instrument cluster as well.
New Kia Picanto engines
The current Kia Picanto’s 1.0-litre non-turbocharged engine will be carried over to this new car, and a new 1.2-litre engine will be offered as well. The smaller of the two units has 66hp, while power for the 1.2 hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Both engines will be available with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic, while safety features such as blind spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking are also available.
New Kia Picanto price and release date
The new Kia Picanto is expected to go on sale later this year, however exact UK pricing is yet to be confirmed.
The entry-level model you can get currently is likely to be dropped, and with the added standard equipment of this new model expect the starting price to rise over the existing £13,415. Somewhere around £15,000 seems likely.
