Car changing is a big deal
Since the space-aged Kia EV6 came out a couple of years ago the Korean brand has been on a roll. Here’s a glimpse at what to expect over the next few years.
New Kia models coming in 2024
New Kia EV9
Revealed earlier in 2023, the Kia EV9 will be the flagship for the company’s electric line-up. The large SUV comes with bold, futuristic styling and was inspired by the concept of the same name – looking as good as the design study, which is a rarity for production cars.
Inside it’s modern, as you have two 12.3-inch screens and lots of space around you. You also have the option of a six-seat setup where the middle row can turn around and face the passengers in the rearmost row.
The most powerful version comes with 380hp from a dual-motor setup, allowing you to go from 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. The top-spec version comes with a 99.6kWh battery and can do up to 336 miles on a full charge. It also comes with an impressive amount of safety assistance systems.
The EV9 is available to order now, with deliveries starting in early 2024. You’ll have to part with £64,995 if you want to get your hands on this electric SUV, unless you check out the savings available through carwow.
New Kia EV5
Following the launch of the EV9, Kia has photocopied it at 75% to create the EV5. Okay, so that’s a little harsh, but this SUV does share a lot of styling cues with the larger EV9.
It has a similar boxy shape, to its larger stablemate, although the slim headlights do and a different, more angular look to them. The interior is also similar to the EV9’s, albeit with one less row of seats.
Under the skin, you can have up to a n 83kWh battery with an impressive 447 miles of range. Expect a price tag of around £40,000 if this car comes to the UK.
New Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento SUV is due for an update at the end of the year, and an early prototype has been spotted testing. You can’t see much of the styling just yet, but it could get similar headlights to the Kia EV9.
The interior may get a similar curved screen design to the smaller Kia Sportage, and it’ll still be offered as a seven-seater. Details around engine options haven’t been announced yet, however it’s likely that a plug-in hybrid will still be available.

New Kia EV4
Kia is taking on the Tesla Model 3 with its first electric saloon: the EV4. It’s certainly a bold-looking thing, with plenty of bold angles and complex curves, and the design is just as interesting on the inside.
The cabin is packed with sustainable materials, including a hemp-based material on the centre console. There’s the usual array of big screens on the dashboard, and the whacky square steering wheel is a cool touch.
There are no details of what’s powering the new EV4, however you can expect it to share parts with cars like the EV5 and EV9 when it goes on sale in the next few years.
New Kia EV3
Also revealed recently was the Kia EV3, a dinky electric SUV to take on the likes of the Volvo EX30 and Smart #1. It’ll cost less than £30,000 when it goes on sale in a few years time.
You can think of the EV9, EV5 and EV3 as being like Russian dolls, because they all look pretty similar. The interior is also pretty similar to the EV4’s, with a mixture of sustainable materials and funky contours.
As with the EV4, there’s no word on what’s powering the EV3. You’ll have to wait a few years for the car to go on sale to find out.
