- Next-generation flagship GT car
- Similar design cues to the DB11
- Retains 4.0-litre V8 engine
- V12 version to follow soon
- On sale later this year
The new Aston Martin DB12 is finally here, and it’s a new flagship GT car to replace the DB11.
This alternative to the Bentley Continental GT and BMW 8 Series gets a twin-turbo V8 engine as well as an all-new, super-luxurious interior.
New Aston Martin DB12 design
At a quick glance, this new Aston Martin DB12 looks awfully similar to the car it replaces. Look a bit closer though and you’ll notice a few key changes.
The main one being the enormous new front grille. It retains the same shape as all Aston Martin models since the 60s, however now it takes up almost the entire front end. The swept-back LED headlights also look similar to those on the DB11.
The DB12 is 6mm wider at the front and 22mm wider at the rear compared to the DB11, making it look more muscular. It still has a svelte side profile, and all cars get 21-inch alloy wheels as standard.
The rear end is sporting Aston’s signature C-shaped tail lights, as well as a more aggressive bumper design compared to the old DB11. There’s no big rear wing here either, with downforce coming from the small retractable lip on the rear deck.
New Aston Martin DB12 interior and infotainment
The cabin of the new Aston Martin DB12 has seen a slightly more dramatic update compared to the DB11, with the new car getting a much more contemporary look.
The centre console is much taller than before, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen integrated into it with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are plenty of physical controls as well for things like climate control.
As you’d expect in an Aston Martin, there are lashings of leather covering almost every surface, and it can be customised pretty much any way you want it.
New Aston Martin DB12 engine and performance
Fans of the internal combustion engine can breathe a sigh of relief, because the new Aston Martin DB12 comes with a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. No electrification here.
It puts out 680hp and 800Nm of torque, over 150hp more than the outgoing DB11 V8, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds. Hit the German Autobahn, plant your right foot and you’ll reach a top speed of 202mph.
You can expect to see a V12 version of the new DB12 make an appearance at a later date, and it’ll almost certainly put out more than the 630hp in the DB11 V12.
How much is the new Aston Martin DB12?
The new Aston Martin DB12 will be available to order soon, with deliveries starting in the autumn of this year.
There’s no word on price just yet, however you can expect it to fetch a premium over the outgoing DB11. A price tag close to £200,000 is to be expected.
