Peugeot’s stylish 208 supermini can be had with petrol or electric power, and the EV model can officially cover 217 miles between charges, while when you need to top up the battery, and 80% charge can be done in as little as 30 minutes thanks to a 100kW charging rate.

2. Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona Electric is a great electric SUV that is fun to drive and looks funky inside and out. It comes with a lot of kit like adaptive cruise control and a 10-inch touchscreen in standard trim, which can be had with no down payment.

The Leaf is an accomplished electric hatchback that will seat four adults comfortably and has a decent 400-litres of boot space. The Motability Scheme offers the 39kWh model in differing trim levels and it will do 168-miles on a charge.
The Leaf delivers strong performance from its 150hp electric motor and has some decent safety kit as standard. You will have to pay in £599 for the base trim, though. Advance Payment: £599 - £2,099.
4. Nissan Ariya

The Ariya is Nissan’s new all-electric SUV, and it comes packed with just about every bit of tech you could imagine. There are six variants of the base Advance trim to choose from, all fitted with the entry-level 216hp electric motor and 63kWh battery pack.
We would stick with the cheapest options here as it still comes with plenty of kit like a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with sat nav, heated steering wheel and fronts seats as well as Nissan’s comprehensive Intelligent Mobility safety suite. Advance Payment: £7,299 - £7,849.
5. Fiat 500 Electric

Battery range up to 186 miles
The Fiat 500 Electric may have similar retro exterior look to its petrol sibling, but it’s a whole new car underneath. Inside, you get a totally redesigned cockpit with some upmarket materials, and there’s even a cabrio model.
Stick to the base 94hp Action trim and it’ll get you 118-miles between charges, all without having to make an advance payment. Higher trims deliver 117hp and can do up to 199-miles on a charge, but you’ll have to pay in an additional £1,195 for the top-spec La Prima Cabrio model. Advance Payment: £0 - £1,195.
6. Vauxhall Mokka-e

The Vauxhall Mokka-e is a great choice if you like the idea of the Corsa-e, but prefer a higher driving position and a bit more practicality. It comes with the same 134kW electric motor and 50kWh battery pack as the Corsa-e, and offers similar performance but a slightly lower 209-miles of range in mixed driving.
You get a bigger 350-litre boot, though, and the base trim can be had with no advance payment. Advance Payment: £0 - £299.
7. Citroen E-C4

The Citroen E-C4 offers a laid-back driving experience with a comfortable ride and stylish good looks. The 50kWh battery should get you 218-miles between charges, and while you do have to pay in £1,295 for the Shine Plus trim currently available on the Motability Scheme, it comes packed with kit.
Standard features include electric leather seats, wireless phone charging and a premium stereo system. Advance Payment: £1,295.
8. Vauxhall Corsa-e

The Vauxhall Corsa-e offers a decent level of standard equipment, and it will do 222-miles between charges on its 50kWh battery pack. If you need to go further, a rapid public charger will get you from 0% - 80% in just 30 minutes.
You either pay nothing extra or a small £99 one-off advance payment depending on the trim you pick. It’s not the most spacious in the back but will seat two teenagers without issue. Advance Payment: £0 - £99.
9. Honda E

The Honda E may have a relatively low range of 137 miles (official), but if most of your journeys are short, it’s a truly characterful car. The huge wraparound digital dash (which includes displays for the cameras that replace traditional wing mirrors) is a key talking point, while the rest of the interior features thoughtfully chosen materials.
The E is also great fun to drive, with sharp steering, a nippy, agile nature, and a 0-62mph time of just 8.3 seconds. Advance Payment: £5,999.
10. Citroen e-Berlingo

If you need a lot of space and practicality, the Citroen e-Berlingo is a great option. It can be had in standard and extended wheelbase sizes, in five, seven, eight or even nine seat configurations.
All get the same 134hp electric motor and 50kWh battery which will deliver around 170 miles of range. The advance payment quickly escalates if you opt for the largest model, so make sure you need the space before ticking that box. Advance Payment: £2,496 - £7,895.
