Vauxhall electric cars Discover the electric Vauxhall range and compare new and leasing deals
Vauxhall is one of the most recognisable names in British motoring, but it’s probably fair to say that the brand isn’t recognised primarily for its cutting edge electric-car technology. And that might not necessarily be fair, because the firm offers an extensive range of all-electric cars. What’s more, Vauxhall’s electric car offerings come in a wide range of sizes and types, so there should be an electric car option for all sorts of buyers. Here, we take you through all the electric cars offered by Vauxhall, and explore whether they might suit you.
Vauxhall electric range: current models
Vauxhall’s electric car range has something for everyone.
Vauxhall Corsa Electric
The Vauxhall Corsa Electric is currently the best-selling small electric car in the UK. And it’s easy to see why: smart, understated looks, a smartly trimmed cabin, lots of standard equipment and a grown-up feel on the road. Until recently, the Corsa was only offered with one electric drivetrain, which teamed a 134bhp motor with a 50kWh battery to give a driving range of 222 miles. However, it’s now been joined by a slightly higher spec version, which teams a 154bhp motor with a 54kWh battery for an extended range of 246 miles.
Vauxhall Mokka Electric
The Mokka Electric is similar to the Corsa Electric in both size and stature, but it does its best to be brash and stylish, and to be fair, it does it rather well. Style aside, it doesn’t offer a great deal more than the Corsa Electric in terms of practicality, equipment or technology, and only has one electric drivetrain to choose from, offering 134bhp with a range of just 209 miles. Still, that should be plenty for most urban commuters. What’s more, we’re told it won’t be too long before a newer, more powerful drivetrain option arrives, which will give the Mokka Electric a range of 252 miles.
Vauxhall Astra Electric
The Astra Electric is the newest car to hit Vauxhall’s all-electric fleet, with a smart cabin, decent practicality, generous equipment, and a sophisticated driving experience. What’s more, it also gets the more powerful of Vauxhall’s two electric drivetrain options as standard, along with the bigger 54kWh battery, and that gives it a maximum range of 258 miles between charges. Estate car fans might also want to note that the Astra Electric is offered in estate form as well as hatchback form, and that makes it one of very few electric estates available in the UK market.
Vauxhall Combo Life Electric
Essentially, the Combo Life Electric is a version of Vauxhall’s Combo van that’s been fitted with seats and windows to turn it into a passenger car. Available in two different lengths, the standard one seats five and and takes a massive amount of luggage on top, while the longer version gets seven seats, yet can still carry more stuff than most large estate cars. These days, the Combo Life is only available in electric car form, but it gets the older powertrain with the smaller 50kWh battery, so it’ll only do 174 miles between charges.
Vauxhall Vivaro Life Electric
Like the Combo Life Electric, the Vivaro Life Electric is a van fitted with windows, seats and carpets, albeit a bigger van. But being a bigger van, it’s even more capacious. For starters, it’ll seat up to nine people in basic Combi trim, where the posher Design and Ultimate trims will seat eight in slightly more comfort. And as you’d expect, you also get a generous amount of cargo space. However, you’ll only be able to go a short distance. Again, the Vivaro Life Electric comes fitted with Vauxhall’s smaller 50kWh battery, and with even more metal to lug around than the Combo Life Electric, its range drops to 136 miles.
