This is the Honda NSX Type S – a send-off for the hybrid sports car that’ll be limited to just 350 cars worldwide.

It’s the return of a nameplate last used on a special edition NSX in 1997 and sees the new car’s power boosted to 600hp, along with some chassis upgrades.

2022 Honda NSX Type S design

Changes to the Honda NSX Type S are subtle but effective in giving it a more aggressive look. Upfront, it gets a redesigned front bumper which improves cooling, along with a huge rear diffuser to help boost aerodynamics.

There’s a larger carbon fibre ducktail spoiler too, as well as a set of new five-spoke alloy wheels which also increase the track width of the NSX.

70 examples out of the 350 set to be made will get the ‘Gotham Grey’ matte paint finish you see in these pictures. Something something Batmobile joke.

2022 Honda NSX Type S interior

There are not too many changes inside the interior of the Honda NSX Type S, though it does get a new Alcantara headlining and a Type S logo embossed on the glove compartment. That’s about it, really.

2022 Honda NSX Type S engine and chassis

Power in the Honda NSX Type S is boosted up to 600hp and 667Nm of torque, courtesy of turbochargers nabbed from the NSX GT3 race car. That’ll still be sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

There are some tweaks to the chassis too. These include some new carbon fibre bits to reduce weight, adjustments to the car’s torque vectoring system and a set of super-sticky Pirelli P-Zero tyres.

You can opt for the lightweight package too, which brings carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon fibre engine cover and some interior trim in the material.

When will the Honda NSX Type S go on sale?

Just 350 examples of the Honda NSX Type S are set for production, with 300 of those destined for the American market — where it’ll be sold as an Acura NSX Type S.

The remaining 50 will be for the rest of the world to fight amongst, so the UK may only receive a handful of these new cars.

It’s likely to cost well above £150,000, and you’ll need to be super quick to get your hands on one.
